BIOGRAPHY
Joshua James is an oil painter currently living in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He draws inspiration from the workshops of Renaissance craftsmen and the Public Works projects of the PWAP, from Pieter Brueghel, Byzantine Iconography, and cave paintings in Lascaux as well as Francis Bacon and Willem de Kooning.
Originally from New London, Connecticut, he has lived and worked in bustling cities and farming communities, the Appalachian and the Adirondack Mountains, beside the Atlantic Ocean and now in the great plains. After spending five winters living and working on the top of a mountain in almost total isolation, he relocated to Tulsa in 2020, where, with his distinctive method and style, he quickly began to draw praise and attention from the art community.
